“Music is my life,” says J Reno. It is paramount for him and his devotion yields tremendous returns in the form of infectious hip-hop songs that help to redefine the genre while maintaining the elements of the style that bring listeners to the record stores. J Reno’s music conjures a variety of emotions in the listener, replicating his own feelings for music. “Depending on the style of music or the concept of the song, it can make me feel many different ways … Music can bring you down and cheer you up. Music brings every emotion to me that I can possibly feel.”
A strong quality of hip-hop is determination and J Reno is not lacking in that department. His dedication to music and his potent desire to succeed push him every day to reach for the top and turn out the best music he can. That’s why listeners can be guaranteed a solid performance every time from J Reno. “Failure is not an option.”
J Reno turns to life and its various manifestations for inspiration. To pull from one’s own experiences helps assure artistic honesty. “Life and all the experiences thus far inspire me.” Family is an important element of his life and offers much of the drive for J Reno’s music. “I’m also inspired by my child, who I am doing this for. J Reno has opened for Shady Records’ Obie Trice, Royce Da 59, Tech N9ne and Insane Clown Posse. He nabbed WindsorHipHop.com and DJ Needle 9:14 Show awards. He is in the process of writing the new J Reno album, “Since Birth,” an autobiographical work, and has just released “Unleashed.” He is also recording with Academy on a double-disc album to be released this year. It is titled “Loyalty Is Limited.” J Reno emerged as a top 5 finalist in the Underground Psychos record deal contest in Detroit. He is currently working with A&R Select, the leading independent A&R firm in Hollywood, CA.
